Whew–that was quick! Nichole Borson of the Tofte Ranger District sent us a notice that the campsites on Caribou and Little Caribou will be re-opened tomorrow, August 20th, at 12:01 am. According to Nicole, there have been no additional reports of bear activity in the area, but they are still working closely with DNR Conservation Officers to locate the bears and take care of the problem.

Nicole reminded us how important it is to keep a clean campsite and to properly store all food. Be sure to use those same storage precautions for anything scented that bears can mistake for food, such as chewing gum, toothpaste and so on. And remember not to leave food packs unattended on the portages.
