Did I say quiet?

As I went on my hike, I got to thinking that this was going to be one of my last colorful hikes of the year. Then I got to thinking about everyone who comes to the area trying to cram all these hikes in. They need to find the prettiest hike to a waterfall, along a river and on a high vista. Here I was walking through the woods, no waterfall, no vista. And let me go back to the leaves. They are just about gone. What is left? Well, I’ll tell you what is left. Silence. Wind rustling through the trees. Gentle breeze. Moose sign. Bird sign. Solitude.
Did I say quiet? People have no concept of what the area has to offer off the beaten track and off season. This is why I live here.

I too enjoy going into places less traveled, so that I might see the unseen. I am glad we have so many visitas, great waterfalls, public beaches throughout all of Minnesota. Happy seeing people out and enjoying nature. However you will not see my vehicle in the Gooseberry lot during a busy time. I will ride the Duluth traverse mntbk trails at night so that I get the route to myself. I was just up at the end of the trail (Seagull Lake) yesterday taking advantage of the wild ice. We had a great time.
