We’ve had some windy days here recently in Grand Marais, so we decided to share a cool site with you: http://hint.fm/wind/.

Two guys named Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg wanted a way to visualize surface wind data. They took data from the National Digital Forecast Database and created a living portrait of wind in the United States. (Apologies to our Canadian friends–the database doesn’t have Canadian wind information.)

By the time you see this, the wind will probably be pretty calm in Grand Marais. That’s okay–just bookmark the page and check it out the next time we have a windy day.
